This bill was filed in 2003 & 2004. The language of future bills may vary,
but its goal - protection of your health freedom rights - will never change!
The Consumer Health Freedom Act will require that CATH practitioners
give you a written statement that:
Describes the services.
Lists their training and credentials.
States that they are not a Florida-licensed health care practitioner.
CATH practitioners will be prohibited from performing risky procedures,
such as puncturing the skin, prescribing or recommending the non-use of
prescription drugs or devices, or anything which poses an imminent risk
of significant and discernible harm.
The Act Will Encourage Communication Between CATH Practitioners and
Licensed Health Care Providers by:
Allowing CATH practitioners to practice openly and to advertise,
if they comply with the Act;
Making it clear that licensed practitioners mayrefer patients to
your CATH practitioners, and
Providing you with written information about your
CATH practitioner’s background and services, which you may
- and are encouraged - to give to your licensed health care provider.
The Act Does Not Require
Any new state agencies or any new state employees.
The Act Does Not Regulate
Licensed CATH providers, who will continue to be governed by
their profession’s licensure laws and regulatory
board.
